About Kagi
What it is
Kagi is a search engine you pay for. There is no advertising, results can be personalised by promoting or blocking particular domains, and it includes AI summaries and an assistant that can use several models.
Why it's different
Paying is the whole argument. Without advertising there is no incentive to keep you searching or to favour pages carrying ads, and the ability to demote sites you consider low quality is something no free engine will ever offer, because those sites are its customers. For heavy searchers the difference is real. The obvious cost is charging for what appears free elsewhere, and its index, while good, is not as deep as Google's on obscure or very local queries.
How people use it
Heavy searchers frustrated by advertising and low-quality results. Research where blocking content farms matters. Anyone wanting search without a profile built from it. Set up your blocked and promoted domains in the first week, because the personalisation is where most of the value sits and untouched defaults feel much like any other engine.
