About Cascadeur
What it is
Cascadeur is keyframe animation software with physics assistance. You pose a character at key moments and it helps produce the movement between them, using physics to keep the motion plausible through balance, momentum and centre of mass.
Why it's different
It assists rather than replaces, which is the right shape for animation: the hard part is not producing movement but producing movement that reads as weighted and physically believable, and that is exactly where it helps while the animator keeps control of the poses. It is a specialised tool with a real learning curve, it expects animation knowledge rather than supplying it, and it covers character motion only, so it sits inside a pipeline rather than replacing one.
How people use it
Character animation for games and film. Action and stunt sequences where the physics must convince. Animators wanting believable motion without hand-keying every frame. Learn the physics tools deliberately rather than treating it as an ordinary animation package, because the assistance is the reason to use it and it is not the default way to work.
