About Meshy
What it is
Meshy generates 3D models from text or images, producing a textured mesh in about a minute, and can also generate textures for models you already have.
Why it's different
Speed and approachability are its argument, and texturing existing models is the underrated half: applying a coherent texture to a mesh you already made is a real and tedious job that it does well. As with every generator the geometry is the weak point, so meshes need cleaning before serious use. Its free tier is usable enough to judge it properly, which is rare here, and worth using before paying since output quality varies enormously with what you ask for.
How people use it
Prototyping and blocking out 3D scenes quickly. Background props and simple objects. Texturing models you have already built. Learning 3D without modelling everything by hand. Generate several versions and pick, because the variation between attempts at the same prompt is larger here than the difference between competing tools.
