About Inworld AI
What it is
Inworld builds AI characters for games. You define a personality, backstory, knowledge and goals, and it produces a character that converses in its own voice, remembers what happened, and reacts within a game world.
Why it's different
Giving characters motivation and memory rather than a dialogue tree is a genuine shift, and it is the only convincing answer to the oldest complaint about game NPCs. There are two serious practical costs. Every conversation is a model call, so a popular game with talkative characters carries an ongoing per-player bill the traditional approach simply does not have, and a character that improvises can say things you did not write, which is a content and brand risk needing real guardrails.
How people use it
Games with characters players are meant to talk to. Non-player characters who respond to what actually happened. Training simulations and interactive experiences. Model the running cost per player per hour before designing around it, because the economics rather than the technology are what usually stops this reaching a shipped game.
