What it is
AudioPen turns a spoken ramble into clean written text. You talk into it without planning what to say, and it returns a tidied, structured version rather than a literal transcript, with the repetition and the false starts removed.
Why it's different
The distinction from ordinary dictation is the whole product. Dictation writes down exactly what you said, including every doubling back, which is why dictated notes are usually worse than typed ones. This rewrites instead. That also means it is the wrong tool when the exact words matter, because it will smooth over a phrase you chose deliberately. It is a small, single-purpose product, which is a strength for reliability and a limit if you want it inside a larger workflow.
How people use it
Capturing an idea while walking or driving. Turning a rambling thought into a first draft. Notes taken straight after a meeting. Getting started when the blank page is the obstacle.
