About Shortwave
What it is
Shortwave is an email client for Gmail with AI throughout: it summarises long threads, drafts replies in your style, searches by meaning rather than by keyword, and can carry out multi-step tasks across your mail.
Why it's different
Search is where it most clearly beats ordinary email. Finding a message when you remember what it was about but not who sent it or what words it used is something keyword search handles badly and meaning-based search handles well. Two considerations. It works with Gmail only, so it is irrelevant on other providers, and giving a third-party client this level of access to your entire mail archive is a real decision rather than a formality.
How people use it
Heavy Gmail users with large archives. Long threads needing summarising. Drafting routine replies quickly. Finding an old message you can only half remember. Read what it does with your mail data before connecting an account, because the access required is total and the value only appears once it has everything.
