About Glasp

What it is

Glasp lets you highlight text on web pages and PDFs, saves those highlights alongside your notes, and makes them shareable, so you can also see what other people have highlighted on the same page.

Why it's different

The social layer is genuinely unusual: seeing which passages other readers marked on an article is a different signal from a comment section, and it surfaces what people found useful rather than what provoked them. Export into note-taking tools is well supported, which matters because a highlighting tool that traps your highlights is worthless. The obvious consideration is that highlights are public by default in a way people do not always register.

How people use it

Research across many articles. Collecting quotes and passages for writing. Feeding highlights into a notes system. Check the privacy setting on anything you would rather not broadcast, because the sharing is the point of the product and therefore the default.
