About Fellow
What it is
Fellow joins meetings to record, transcribe and summarise them, pulling out action items automatically. It is aimed at regulated organisations, with SOC 2 Type II and GDPR compliance, administrative controls over what is recorded, and a commitment that customer data is not used to train models.
Why it's different
Note-takers are close to commodity now, so the differentiator is the governance rather than the transcript: who may record, where recordings live, and whether the vendor trains on them are the questions that decide whether legal will approve any of them. Being explicit about that is the product. The consequence is that it is priced and shaped for organisations, and a freelancer will find cheaper tools that transcribe just as well because they are not carrying that apparatus.
How people use it
Regulated teams that need notes but cannot use a consumer tool. Recurring meetings where actions get lost. Handing a decision record to people who were not there. Agree the recording policy with the people in the room before switching it on, because consent is not a setting and the law on it varies by country.
