About Fal.ai
What it is
Fal.ai runs generative media models for image, video and audio behind a fast API. It concentrates on inference speed and on offering one interface to many models rather than on training its own.
Why it's different
Speed is its actual product, and for media generation that matters more than it does for text: an image model returning in a second allows a genuinely interactive interface, while one taking thirty seconds forces a queue and a notification. It is infrastructure for developers, so there is nothing here for somebody who simply wants to generate an image. Pricing is per use and gets expensive at volume, and you inherit whatever licensing each underlying model carries.
How people use it
Building generative media into a product. Real-time or interactive image generation. Testing several models without integrating each one separately. Check the licence of each model you call rather than assuming the platform's own terms cover commercial use of its output.
