About Veo
What it is
Veo is Google's text-to-video model. It generates clips from a written description or a still image, and unlike most competitors it generates the sound with them, so dialogue, effects and ambience are produced as part of the same clip rather than added afterwards.
Why it's different
Generating audio alongside the picture is the meaningful difference. Silent generated video always needs a sound pass, and matching audio to imagery that never existed is genuinely awkward, so having the two arrive together removes a step most workflows had not solved. Quality sits at the front of the field. Access is the complication: it reaches people through several different Google products and subscription tiers rather than one place, so what you can do depends on which door you came through.
How people use it
Short cinematic clips where sound and picture have to match. Concept and pitch material. B-roll and establishing shots. Testing a visual idea before a shoot. Confirm which Google plan you are on and what it permits commercially before building anything around it, because the entitlements differ more than the marketing suggests.
