About Supermaven
What it is
Supermaven is a code completion tool built for speed and for a very large context window, so its suggestions take account of far more of your codebase than typical completion does.
Why it's different
It was the fastest completion available and the long context genuinely improved suggestions in large projects, which is why it had a devoted following. The important thing to know now is not technical: the team behind it joined Cursor in late 2024, and a completion tool whose authors have moved to a competing product is not one to build a team's workflow on without checking what is currently maintained. Confirm its present state rather than relying on older reviews.
How people use it
Fast inline completion in large codebases. Developers who find heavier assistants slow. Anyone who wants completion and nothing else. Check when it was last updated and what the current terms are before committing, because the reviews that made this tool popular were written before its team moved on.
