About Spline
What it is
Spline is a 3D design tool that runs in a browser. You model, light and animate scenes visually, and export the result as an interactive embed for a web page, as video, or as image assets.
Why it's different
It is built for designers who want 3D on a website rather than for people making games or films, and that focus is why it is approachable where established 3D software is not. Getting something presentable takes hours rather than months. Set against real 3D packages it is limited in modelling depth and rendering, and interactive 3D embeds are heavy, so putting one on a page has a genuine cost in load time on a phone.
How people use it
Interactive hero sections and product visualisations on marketing sites. Animated 3D icons and illustrations. Quick concept models to communicate an idea. Learning 3D without committing to a large application. Measure the page weight before shipping an embed, and provide a static image for visitors on slow connections.
