About Remini

What it is

Remini restores and enhances photographs and video, particularly faces. It sharpens old, blurred or low-resolution pictures, and is widely used on phones for portrait enhancement and for generated headshot styles.

Why it's different

On damaged and old family photographs the result can be genuinely moving, and that is its best use. The important thing to understand is what it is doing: it reconstructs a plausible face rather than recovering the real one, so an old photograph of a relative comes back subtly not quite them, which matters enormously to some people and not at all to others. It is aggressively subscription-driven on mobile, and enhanced faces carry a recognisable smoothness.

How people use it

Restoring old or damaged family photographs. Sharpening low-resolution pictures for printing. Improving portraits taken on a poor camera. Keep the original alongside the enhanced version, because the reconstruction is an interpretation and you may well prefer the real one afterwards.
