What it is
OpenCode is an open-source coding agent that runs in the terminal. It reads a project, plans and makes multi-file changes, runs commands, and understands code through language servers rather than by pattern matching on text. You bring your own model key.
Why it's different
Living in the terminal is deliberate and suits people whose editor is already there, and using language servers for understanding is a real technical difference from agents that treat code as plain text. Being open source and model-agnostic means no lock-in and no markup. The trade-offs are the familiar ones: per-token cost with no ceiling, a rougher experience than a commercial product, and nothing to help you if you would rather not configure things.
