About Duck.ai

What it is

Duck.ai is DuckDuckGo's chat interface to several third-party models. It passes your messages through anonymously, so the model provider sees the request without seeing who sent it, and conversations are not used for training.

Why it's different

Anonymising the request is the whole product, and it is a real technical arrangement rather than a promise: DuckDuckGo acts as the intermediary, strips identifying metadata and forwards the message. For anyone uncomfortable with a permanent chat history attached to their identity that is a meaningful difference. The cost is capability. You get a limited set of models with no memory between conversations, no file handling and none of the surrounding tooling, so it suits questions rather than work.

How people use it

Asking something you would rather not have logged against an account. Quick questions without signing up for anything. Comparing how a few models answer the same thing. Use it for the conversations you would not have in a logged-in assistant, and something fuller for everything else.
