About D-ID

What it is

D-ID generates video of a speaking person from a still image and a script, with avatars in many languages, and extends the same technology into interactive agents that respond in conversation. It is used through a studio interface, an API, or self-hosted for larger customers.

Why it's different

For volume video where the face is a delivery mechanism rather than the point, it removes filming entirely - and updating a script is retyping it rather than rebooking a studio. The honest limits are that avatars still read as avatars in longer takes, and that the underlying capability is the one behind synthetic video impersonation. Their own terms restrict whose likeness you may use, and treating that as a formality is how this technology gets people into trouble.

How people use it

Training and onboarding video that changes often. Product explainers localised into many languages. Interactive assistants with a face. Use a likeness you have written permission for, including your own staff, because consent to appear in one video is not consent to be synthesised in later ones.
