About CodeRabbit

What it is

CodeRabbit reviews pull requests automatically. It reads the diff along with the surrounding context, comments line by line with suggested changes, summarises what the pull request does, and will discuss its own feedback in the thread.

Why it's different

It is most valuable where human review is the bottleneck: a small team, a solo maintainer, an open-source project where nobody has the time. It reliably catches mechanical things, such as a missing null check, an unhandled error or a branch no test covers. What it cannot judge is whether the change was the right one to make, which is what experienced reviewers actually contribute. It is also talkative by default, and a review carrying thirty low-value comments teaches people to ignore reviews.

How people use it

A first pass before a person looks. Solo projects with nobody to review. Repositories with more pull requests than maintainers. Catching routine mistakes early. Tune the noise down in the first week, because the defaults comment on far more than a team will tolerate and an ignored bot is worse than no bot.
