About ChatPDF
What it is
ChatPDF lets you ask questions of a PDF. You upload a document and put questions to it in plain language, getting answers with references back to the pages they came from.
Why it's different
It is deliberately simple, and for a single document that simplicity is the appeal: no account setup, no workspace, nothing to learn. The reference back to the page is the part that matters, because it lets you check rather than trust. The limitation is scope. It works on one document at a time rather than across a library, and it will misread tables, figures and scanned pages, which in academic and technical documents is very often exactly where the information lives.
How people use it
Getting the substance of a long report or paper quickly. Finding a specific detail inside a large document. Working through material in a second language. Always follow the page reference and read the passage, because a confident answer drawn from a misread table looks identical to a correct one.
