What it is
Hex is a collaborative notebook for data work. It combines SQL, Python and no-code cells in one document, adds AI help for writing and explaining queries, and publishes the result as an interactive application other people can use.
Why it's different
The publish step is the difference from a traditional notebook. Analysis usually dies as a file only its author can run, and turning it into something a colleague can open and filter is what makes the work actually count. The AI help is useful for writing queries and better still for explaining an unfamiliar one. It is priced for teams and it assumes real data skills: it lowers the effort of sharing analysis, not the effort of doing it.
How people use it
Data teams sharing analysis with colleagues who do not write code. Exploratory work that becomes a recurring report. Internal dashboards without building an application.
