About H2O.ai
What it is
H2O.ai spans automated machine learning for prediction and a generative platform for assistants and agents, with document processing and model management alongside. Much of the core is open source, and the whole stack is designed to run on premises, in a private cloud, or entirely air-gapped.
Why it's different
The distinctive claim is owning every layer, which only matters to organisations for whom sending data to an API is not an option - banks, health systems, government. For them it is one of few complete answers. For everyone else it is a large amount of platform to operate, and the automated machine learning that made the company's name now competes with capabilities built into the data warehouses people already run. Its value is proportional to how strict your data boundary is.
How people use it
Regulated environments where nothing may leave the network. Tabular prediction problems - risk, churn, fraud - where a model must be explainable. Private assistants over internal documents. Be honest about whether you truly need air-gapped deployment, because the operational cost of it is the whole difference here.
