About Framer
What it is
Framer is a tool for designing and publishing websites. You lay a site out visually, much as you would in a design application, and it publishes to a working URL with hosting included. It has AI features for generating a first layout and for writing copy.
Why it's different
It is aimed at designers rather than developers, and the gap it closes is the one between a design file and a live site, which usually requires somebody else. Its animation and interaction handling is better than most site builders. In exchange you are committed to its platform: exporting a Framer site to host elsewhere is not a realistic path, so choose it knowing that. Content-heavy sites are more awkward here than in a tool built around a CMS.
How people use it
Marketing sites, portfolios and product pages where the design matters more than the volume of content. Landing pages that need to go up this week. Designers who want to ship without handing work over. For a site that is mostly articles, a blogging platform will be less work.
